Fundraising Fundamentals is a course designed for new fundraisers or those interested in learning about fundraising. This session will include an overview of the development process for securing private contributions (including individual giving, major gifts, events, foundations, and corporate giving) and where your best opportunities come from to raise money.
Takeaways will include:
A better understanding of how donors make decisions and what you can do to position your organization better.
Understanding how to engage donors so they continue to provide support over the years.
Reviewing a sample development plan to see how these concepts, strategies, and tactics come together.
Speaker: Carolyn Nopar
Carolyn Nopar served as Chief Development Officer for the YWCA Metro Chicago and as Director of Development & Communications for Family Focus, where she was responsible for raising millions. She has extensive experience in corporate & foundation relations, annual fund, special events, donor communications, and major gifts. Before entering the nonprofit field, Carolyn worked as a commercial sales manager after earning her MBA from Northwestern’s J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management. She is a certified fund-raising executive (CFRE) and has completed the Association of Fundraising Professional's (AFP) Faculty Training Academy, certifying her as an AFP Master Trainer.
